Yes. The hardware and software are a combined system — the hardware is the physical trainer, and the software provides the guided drills, feedback, progression tracking, and content. Without the software, the hardware has no training function. The software membership starts at €30/month excl. VAT, with a 2-week free trial included. You need both to train.

Laptitude is a surgical training device, not a medical device used in patient care, and is not subject to CE or FDA medical device regulation. The system has been evaluated in a peer-reviewed study presented at SAGES 2025, conducted by Radboud University Medical Centre, where expert surgeons and senior residents rated the anatomical models as suitable for surgical skills training with a mean score of 4.1 out of 5.
Laptitude trains the core motor skills required for laparoscopic surgery: bimanual coordination, depth perception, instrument positioning, grasping, transferring, and needle control. The software includes Curious Cases (foundational skills for students), Skill Drills (rapid repetition for residents), and Procedures (full surgical simulations, coming soon). All modules are FLS skills aligned.
A traditional box trainer gives you instruments and a physical space to practice, but no feedback, no progression, and no objective data. Laptitude adds a software layer that tracks your accuracy, speed, and error rate every session, adapts the difficulty as you improve, and shows your progress on a dashboard over time. You know whether you're improving and by how much. Box trainers don't tell you that
Most effective training sessions with Laptitude take 15–20 minutes. The Skill Drills module is specifically designed for short, high-repetition sessions that fit into a call room break or a lunch hour. You don't need a dedicated training block. Consistent short sessions build more durable muscle memory than occasional longer ones.
Yes. Laptitude's Curious Cases and Skill Drills modules are designed around the core motor skills tested in the Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS) examination: peg transfer, pattern cutting, and suturing with intracorporeal knot tying. The progress dashboard tracks your performance against skill benchmarks that align with FLS standards.
Laptitude's software monitors your performance session by session and automatically adjusts the speed, complexity, and precision demands of your drills as you improve. If you're consistently accurate at a given level, difficulty increases. If you hit a plateau or a new skill area, it scales back. The goal is to keep every session at the edge of your current ability, which is where skill development actually happens.
Yes. All training data (accuracy scores, speed, error rates, session history, and skill progression) is stored in your personal dashboard. Your progress is tied to your account, not your device, so you can train on a laptop at home and continue on a tablet in the hospital without losing any data.

This email confirms a change in your billing date, typically because your first billing period was extended to allow time for your hardware to arrive before your subscription charges began. No action is required. Your subscription continues as normal from the new billing date shown in the email.
